現貨黃金在12月10日出現攀升，原因在於美聯儲政策會議，英國大選等事件可能引發市場避險情緒，市場保持謹慎的態度。而且目前市場關注美聯儲的會議內容以及對之後經濟前景的預期，但特朗普的關稅言論讓市場進一步複雜化。
美聯儲今年先後三次降息，為的是延續美國有史以來持續事件最長的經濟擴張週期。但美聯儲已經明確表示，除非美國經濟前景發生“實質性”改變，否則短期內不打算調整利率。
目前為止，這些降息舉措看來正在發揮效果。美國勞工部上周五(12月6日)公佈的就業報告顯示，11月非農就業崗位創下10個月來最大增幅。近期的房市及耐用品訂單等數據也顯示，經濟狀況相當樂觀。
投資人掛念的是美國是否會在周日(12月15日)對中國實施新一輪關稅，以及在那之前中美是否會達成協議。各界擔心，製造業衰退以及企業投資下滑可能會擴散至整體經濟，美聯儲期望能夠打消這些疑慮。
近期一些美國學者也批評特朗普政府對華政策。美國前常務副國務卿、世界銀行前行長佐利克稱，美中對抗將造成不可計數的代價和危險。哥倫比亞大學可持續發展中心主任薩克斯撰文稱，對華關稅壁壘無益於解決美自身問題。
但問題是在美中貿易紛爭未解之際，特朗普前不久還出人意料地對巴西和阿根廷的鋼鋁產品恢復加征關稅，並威脅對法國24億美元商品徵收最高100%的關稅。美國總統特朗普混亂貿易政策引發的不確定性，在明年疊加美國總統選舉將使問題變得更加複雜。
英國原定脫歐最後期限臨近以及全球經濟增長放緩，打擊了英國10月GDP表現。英國10月GDP環比持平上月，遜於市場預期的增長0.1%。
英國週四(12月12日)即將迎來的大選就將在這樣疲弱的經濟背景下舉行，而兩大主要政黨都承諾要提振增長。之前的民調顯示，保守黨將獲得議會多數席位。
