美國勞動力市場和製造業資料直指經濟放緩。本週三美國上周初請失業金人數意外保持在五個月高位，表明就業市場有所放緩。
美聯儲週三公佈的10月29-30日政策會議記錄顯示，儘管美聯儲官員認為就業市場狀況依然強勁，但他們也承認就業增長步伐放緩。政策制定者將招聘放緩歸因於勞動力短缺，並認為這“表明勞動力需求有所降溫”，與最近職位空缺下降的情況相符。
10月，美國對蘇格蘭威士卡和其他歐洲產品徵收25%的關稅，以報復歐盟對大型飛機的補貼。美國還啟動了“232條款”調查，調查結果認為汽車進口可能有損美國國家安全，可以據此對汽車征關稅。
近期美國債市的表現支撐風險偏好情緒，給金價帶來一些壓力。面對創出一年多來最長連續趨平時長紀錄的收益率曲線，投資者正在持續解除押注收益率曲線變陡的頭寸，也就是所謂的避險頭寸。
兩年期與10年期美國國債收益率差不斷收窄的勢頭週四喪失了部分動能，持穩在了略高於16個基點的水準。過去一周的走勢可能源於月初債市的下跌，伴隨重新出現的貿易局勢憂慮，這種跌勢吸引了投資者的抄底買盤。數月前貿易焦慮最盛時，衰退恐懼導致這段收益率曲線出現了10年來的首次倒掛。
在過去一周，特朗普彈劾調查可謂如火如荼，並且也成功吸引著芸芸大眾的眼球。然而在華爾街，交易員卻似乎對此依然無動於衷。儘管股市曾短暫大跌，但頭條新聞與彈劾毫無關係。
分析師表示，兩周以來，投資者一直受到特朗普新聞的轟炸，但絲毫沒有削弱樂觀情緒，推動標普500指數屢創新高。這不是說投資者對聽證會不感興趣。又是一年，我們經歷了選舉相關動盪的一年，我不知道這會向一個方向推動市場，但這會加劇噪音，加劇波動。
分析指出，至少有一個結果可能迫使市場開始對彈劾作出反應。到目前為止，總統的支持率幾乎沒有變化，最新的民調顯示小幅升至43%。如果支持率降至35%以下，投資者可能會開始重新考慮。如果特朗普失去公眾支持，那麼彈劾就成了現實可能性。
