美國經濟疲軟增添憂愁
12月6日，美元出現下跌，11月就業數據不及預期，10月貿易差升至高位，美元承壓。英鎊歐元雙雙走高，因市場預期英國最終可能選擇留歐，金價回升，同時美元走低支撐金價。
有“小非農”之稱的美國11月ADP就業數據顯示，由於勞動力市場顯示出更多緊縮跡象，11月份企業創造就業崗位的速度有所放緩，11月ADP就業人數增加17.9萬人，創3個月新低，不及預期值19.5萬人，前值為22.7萬人，同時也低於此前20.3萬的月度平均水準。
美國10月貿易逆差555億美元，逆差規模創2008年10月以來新高，預期550億美元，前值逆差540億美元；這表明，貿易可能會拖累第四季度的GDP，同時，疲弱的住房和企業設備支出報告也進一步表明，經濟增長正在放緩。
歐洲法院週四表示，將在12月10日宣佈有關英國能否單方面推翻退歐行動的裁決。這項裁決以罕見速度做出，而出爐後的次日，英國議會便將投票表決，是否接受首相特雷莎梅的退歐協議。
美元近期一直面臨壓力，因各界擔心美國經濟可能步入衰退，且美國國債收益率曲線有部分倒掛。美國債市發出有關經濟增長的負面信號，並且美聯儲暗示升息步伐或將放慢，這也令美元承壓。美聯儲決策官員將於12月18-19日召開會議，外界普遍預計屆時將會升息。目前關注焦 點在於美聯儲2019年的升息次數。
道明證券表示，在12月份的鴿派聲明之後，加拿大央行1月份加息的可能性不大。加拿大央行仍致力於使利率回歸中性區間，但看起來政策正常化進程將比預期更為漸進，3月份的可能性仍然很高。加拿大央行維持利率在1.75%不變，同時強調了對石油價格快速下滑後加拿大經濟的擔憂。在風險情緒穩定後，仍尋求為加拿大利率上升做準備，對於加元而言，聲明中幾乎沒有積極因素。
週三公佈的數據顯示，上季度澳大利亞經濟增長率只有預期水準的一半，再加上家庭支出下降，助長了一些人關於澳洲聯儲下一步行動將是降息的猜測；安保資本澳洲首席經濟學家Shane Oliver指出，澳洲聯儲下一次利率變動可能是降息，而非大多數經濟學家和澳洲聯儲自身所暗示的那樣加息，Oliver研究澳大利亞經濟已有30多年。
市場正試圖整固，暫時設法推升上去，美聯儲12月加息，中美緊張貿易關係的不確定性以及美債收益率曲線趨平，這些因素綜合來說利多金價。美聯儲政策制定者將於12月18日至19日召開會議，人們普遍預計美聯儲將加息。此外收益率曲線倒掛表明短期借貸成本較高，因此從長期來看，這對避險資產非常有利。
市場雖然已消化加息因素，但將會密切關注這次會議，以尋找2019年加息時間的線索。如果會議發出類似於主席鮑威爾鴿派轉變的訊息，黃金有可能在2019年有亮麗表現。
