某天，城里一富翁家的狗在散步时跑丢了，于是报纸上刊登了一则广告：有狗丢失，归还者，酬谢1万元。
虽然广告发出后，送狗的人都纷纷拜访上门，但没有一只是富翁家的。富翁太太想到，肯定是真正捡到狗的人嫌给的钱太少，于是富翁将酬金改为2万元。
这时，一位乞丐在公园的长椅上打盹，捡无意中到了富翁家的狗，当听到有两万元酬金时，他第二天一大早就抱著狗准备去领酬金，但来到富翁家才发现，酬金已变成3万元。于是乞丐又折回他的破窑洞，把狗重新拴在那儿。在接下来的几天，乞丐一直在等著告示更新。当酬金涨到7万元时，乞丐这才返回了他的窑洞。
但那只狗却已经死在了窑洞，因为狗在富翁家吃的都是牛肉、牛奶，根本吃不下乞丐从垃圾桶里捡来的东西，活活饿死了，自然，乞丐的梦想的7万酬金也化为泡影。
这个投资故事，其实也是在告诫各位在市场上理财的投资者，一旦市场价格已经到达我们理想中的盈利目标时，就要及时止盈将受益稳稳收入口袋，否则一旦让贪婪蒙蔽了眼睛，就容易丧失理智，最后连应得的盈利都一并失去！
