人世间很多故事都蕴含了道理，这些道理在各个领域都是相通的。一个小偷的故事，其透露的道理竟然也能用在投资领域上！
有一天，小偷的儿子对小偷说要以偷为生。”小偷看着儿子那模样，心想若不学偷，这个孩子日后或许会饿死， 便答应了。这天晚上，小偷带儿子到一家地主家里，在墙上挖了个洞，爬进屋子，便叫儿子进去找值钱的东西。他的儿子去后，小偷锁了储存间的门，而此时他 的儿子正在储存间里。随后，他又故意在宁静的庭院喊，喊完就从洞里溜了出去。这家人知道遭了盗窃，全家都出来查看，看到墙上的洞，以为小偷已经溜走了。
此时主人便叫佣人点上蜡烛到储存间看看不见了什么。小偷的儿子在储存间千万遍地咒骂他的爸爸，当他听到有人要到储存间查看时，更是吓得腿都软了，但没有办法，只好躲在储存间的门后。仆人一打开储藏室的门，小偷的儿子就冲出去跑了。这一家人便大呼小叫地在后面开始追。小偷的儿子看到一个池塘，他捡起一块大石头扔进了池塘。一家人聚集在池塘边，寻找“跳入”池塘里的盗贼。
这时，小偷的儿子已经回家了。他正想指责爸爸的残忍，爸爸已先开口了： “儿子，告诉我你是怎么回来的？”听完了儿子的故事，神偷说：“孩子，你已学会怎么偷东西了。”小偷的本事不在偷，而在于危急的时候怎么逃，你成功从众人的包围中逃了出来！
