美国劳工部3月27日公布，经季节调整后，截至3月22日为止当周，首次申请失业救济金人数较前周修正值减少10,000人至311,000人，创下近四个月新低。根据彭博社的调查，经济学家的预估值为增加至32.3万人。上周首次申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前周修正值减少9,500人至317,750人，则是创去年9月底以来的新低。
截至3月15日为止当周，经季节调整后，连续申请失业救济金人数较前一周的修正值减少53,000人至2,823,000人，创下三个月新低。当周连续申请失业救济金人数的4周移动平均值较前一周的修正值减少31,500人至2,862,500人。截至3月15日为止当周，经过季节性因素调整后的保险失业率较前周持平为2.2%。
彭博社本月稍早公布的一项调查显示，经济学家预期2014年美国就业市场的增长力道可能较去年稍弱，经济学家的预估中间值为平均每月新增19.2万非农就业人口，相比2013与2012年则分别为每月194,250人与186,330人。彭博社调查显示，将于4月4日公布的三月份非农就业将增加19万人。
