美国总统奥巴马4日向国会呈交2015财政年度预算书，总支出达3.9兆美元，为刺激经济成长，预算着力于就业、职训、学校教育与基础建设等面向。至于财源方面，奥巴马则再度锁定富人加税，并计划删减部分高所得家庭与企业的税务减免，与此同时，奥巴马还希望为1,350万的低薪劳工减税。奥巴马表示，预算精神不在于数字大小，而是在于其所代表的价值，一方面透过教育的过程来达成促进就业的终极目标，另一方面则是将支出水平控制在国会可接受范围内。
美国11月将举行期中选举，从预算的优先级也可看出奥巴马浓浓的选举考虑，希望从施政下手、帮助所属的民主党打赢选战，预料在野的共和党将不会让预算书轻易过关。预算书预测今年赤字将较去年减少13%至5,640亿美元；赤字占全年GDP比重为3.7%，预期明年可降至3.1%。2009年也是奥巴马执政的第一年，当时预算赤字占比达9.9%。
