美国国防部预算缩减 人数创1940年来新低

美国五角大厦24日表示，准备将美国陆军人数降至二次世界大战战前水平，并裁撤A-10空军机队、缩减军方福利，达成预算删减目标；国防部预算案预定下周送交国会审查。
Sky News和路透社报导，美国国防部长Chuck Hagel在五角大厦演说中，勾勒预算缩减概要。美国陆军人数将由现行的52.2万人，减至44-45万人，人数为1940年以来新低。美国陆军人数在911恐怖攻击后冲上新高，一度达57万人。
Hagel并提案撤除空军A-10攻击机机队，此一机队在冷战全盛期创立，主要用于摧毁苏联坦克，近距离保护地面部队，较不适用于现今战场。
美国国防部预定在10年间减少近1兆美元开支，国会去年12月通过的预算案减轻五角大厦减支压力，但2014年的国防预算仍遭砍310亿美元，2015年则遭减450亿美元。
伊拉克和阿富汗战争之后，Hagel称美军无意参与长期大规模的维稳行动。他说，美方重新部署，将专注于决定未来的策略挑战和机会，包括新科技、新权力中心、全球局势更加诡谲多变、难以预测，部份情况下也对美国更具威胁性。
