据报道，美国当选总统拜登对弹劾特朗普一事持谨慎态度，似乎没什么特别的兴趣。他此前说，这是应该由美国国会作出的决定，但他们应该准备好开始工作并全速前进，因为在哈里斯（候任副总统）和我就职后，我们将立即推动立法，解决应对这种病毒、经济和增长等方面的问题。拜登强调说，我们将致力于我们的工作，国会可以自己决定如何继续他们的工作。
众议院议长佩洛西表示，如果副总统彭斯不采取行动，众议院可能就一项煽动叛乱指控投票弹劾特朗普。投票可能会在本周结束前进行。众议院少数党领袖麦卡锡(Kevin McCarthy)的助手未回复置评请求。如果没有两党的共同支持，民主党要拉特朗普下马成功的机会渺茫。到目前为止，只有四名共和党议员公开表示，特朗普不应做完剩下的九天任期。
