11月18日，现货黄金在附近震荡下行，波动至近日以来的最低点，由于疫苗试验成功带来的乐观情绪，抵消市场对感染病例激增的担忧，市场对美元更有兴趣。
辉瑞周三表示，该公司新冠疫苗试验最终结果显示，其疫苗的成功率为95%，且有两个月的安全数据，为该公司在几天内申请美国紧急授权铺平了道路。
分析师表示，疫苗取得积极进展降低了黄金作为安全避风港的吸引力。尽管它似乎仍处于交投区间，大幅上涨似乎已经结束，疫苗似乎进展很快，还有其他几种疫苗正在实验中……这将有助于全球经济复苏，并对黄金形成净利空。但与此同时，我们尚未脱离困境，需要更多刺激措施，这似乎提供了一些支撑。
不过美国参众两院有关刺激方案规模的立场仍相差甚远，众议院议长佩洛西和参议院民主党领袖舒默昨日曾致信麦康奈尔呼吁他本周参加谈判。但麦康奈尔周三嘲笑了佩洛西和舒默认为应作为谈判起点的民主党2.4万亿美元方案。麦康奈尔在参议院发言称，“问题在于他们的方案是一个数万亿美元的笑柄，从来没有机会成为法律。”麦康奈尔重申他的要求，即任何刺激方案都应该是“定向的”，并且规模应在5000亿美元左右。
黄金市场缺乏上行推动力，而通胀预期的走弱使得金价承压，因为美国财政刺激显然不会像之前预期的那么大规模。
