10月30日，现货黄金出现巨大商行，由于美国大选的投票结果不确定性比较高，明显提振了市场对黄金的避险需求，加上美元指数的不稳定波动，黄金目前更受投资者喜爱。
美国和欧洲的新冠疫情愈演愈烈。病毒正在美国加速蔓延，单日新增病例超过了86000例，创下新纪录。在欧洲，各国已开始采取新的限制措施，以遏制危机。
由于投资者更青睐将美元作为避险工具，金价连续第三个月下跌，持续时间为2019年4月以来最长。汇丰银行首席贵金属分析师James Steel表示，到美国大选之前，整个贵金属市场都会有巨大波动。市场避险情绪提振了美元，打压了黄金和白银，但金价银价的跌势不太可能再进一步。在疫情和美国大选的影响下，金价银价会继续波动，最终会吸引避险情绪的支撑。
本周黄金期货价格收跌1.3%，为连续第三周下跌，本月黄金期货下跌0.8%。12月交割的白银期货价格上涨29美分，涨幅1.2%，收于每盎司23.646美元，白银期货本周下跌超过4%，本月上涨0.7%。
尽管10月份美股动荡，但黄金市场却出乎意料的平静。黄金受到了两种不同因素的影响：对金价不利的财政刺激谈判僵局，以及对金价有利的月内多数时间内的疲软美元。
美国大选只剩下几天了，没人愿意冒险。大家都持币观望，市场交易量低迷，因此放大了价格走势。投资需求放缓，实物需求疲软，在这种情况下，金价走低是很容易的。
