10月21日，現貨黃金出現巨大上漲，由於投資者認為美國將在美國總統大選前宣佈新的財政刺激計畫，且達成的可能性較高，在樂觀情緒推動下，現貨黃金走出較大行情，同時增強黃金作為通脹對沖的作用。
COMEX 12月黃金期貨收漲0.7%，報1929.50美元/盎司。分析師表示，美國眾議院議長佩洛希原本的最後期限是週二，現在已經推遲到週五了。知道這一點，人們認為協議可能在不久的將來達成，所以他們開始囤
黃金。
美國眾議院議長佩洛西稱，有可能與美國財長努欽就應對新冠疫情衝擊的刺激方案達成協議，但可能無法趕在11月3日前讓國會兩院通過。美國白宮幕僚長梅多斯表示，政府目標是在48小時內達成協議。佩洛西隨後稱對談判情況“非常滿意”，即便還有一些分歧，例如對州和地方政府的撥款規模等。努欽與佩洛西定於週三下午再次對話。然而，如果達成協議，仍然會在參議院面臨阻礙，美國參議院多數黨領袖麥康奈爾已警告白宮，不要同意任何類似於佩洛西所支持的全面方案。
對最終將達成協議的押注增加，推動美元連續第三日下滑，美元指數盤中創9月2日以來新低至92.46，這支撐了金價。分析師稱，美元的下跌是金價走高的主因，黃金市場近期的盤整狀態接近結束，或將回到上行趨勢中。
在黃金市場下行支撐良好，利多因素又都還在的情況下，預計今年年末之前還能回到2000美元/盎司關口，明年金價能漲至2300美元/盎司。
