10月13日，現貨黃金出現大面積跌落，you8yu美國經濟刺激方案的協商陷入了僵局，市場對美元有所看好，而且投資者也關注國際貨幣基金組織對全球經濟預估的上調，都提振了美元限制金價。
黃金在2020年的前八個月中上漲了30%，但隨著美元上漲，9月金價漲勢失去了動力.德國商業銀行分析師Daniel Briesemann週二發佈報告稱：“黃金似乎很難擺脫1,900美元關口的牽制”。
美國在11月選舉日之前達成刺激方案的希望在週二趨於黯淡，眾議院議長佩洛西要求白宮修改最新提案，而參議院共和黨領袖麥康奈爾計畫推動對一個更小規模方案進行投票，這種策略正是民主黨多次提出反對的。麥康奈爾計畫下周只對補充小企業薪酬保護計畫(PPP)資金這一項措施進行投票，這甚至引起了總統特朗普的反對 ，他在推文中說“要麼達成大協議，要麼回家！”
消息人士透露，佩洛西周二在電話上對眾議院民主黨人表示，麥康奈爾的方案不可能成功。據三位知情人士稱，在特朗普的推文發佈後，佩洛西告訴同僚他們現在的籌碼比以往任何時候都大。麥康奈爾週二稱，稱民主黨無視兩黨達成的協議，堅持要求在刺激案中納入與抗疫無關的措施。
國際貨幣基金組織(IMF)表示，由於富裕國家和中國的復蘇速度快於預期，全球經濟預測的“糟糕程度有所減弱“。
金價要再創下新高，吸引出現非常意外的事件。比如，美聯儲不再關注通脹這種會改變美國整個基本面結構的變化等。這會使得全球投資者對美元喪失信心，但分析師指出，這種情況出現的可能很小。如果沒有新一輪刺激專案出現的話，黃金會緩慢小幅走高。預計明年三季度末金價將漲至2100美元/盎司。
