7月31日，金价在价格最高纪录附近徘徊，由于美元近日疲软，实际利率下跌，加上市场对经济复苏的担忧，市场避险情绪空前高涨，金价有望继续创下新高。
现货黄金周五一度涨逾1%，刷新历史高点至1983.36美元/盎司。渣打银行分析师Suki Cooper表示：“宏观环境仍然非常积极，金价继续跟踪实际利率…美元的极度疲软帮助进一步提振了金价。”
美元指数有望创下近10年来最大月度跌幅。数据显示，受大流行影响，美国经济在第二季遭受了自大萧条以来最严重萎缩，同时投资者也为美国不确定的政治局势做准备。
避险黄金今年迄今上涨了近30%，因全球实施低利率且各国央行的广泛刺激措施增加了对黄金的支撑，黄金被认为是对冲通胀和货币贬值的工具。
尽管黄金和白银涨势在本周中有所降温，但多数市场观察家预测，未来可能还会有更多上涨。两种金属今年以来均上涨了约30%，黄金和白银交易所交易基金持仓量增至创纪录水平，原因是冠状病毒大流行推动了避险需求。美联储本周再次誓言要使用其所有工具来支持美国经济，全球各国政府和中央银行已经释放出大量刺激措施以支撑经济增长。
美国银行全球研究表示：“在政策利率已经处于甚至低于零的情况下，我们认为，对金价的支撑将越来越多地来自通胀攀升。”该行还预计，未来18个月金价将达到每盎司3000美元的水平。
