人们对经济复苏的持续担忧以及美国第二波冠状病毒潮迹象助长了对避险资产的需求。OANDA高级市场分析师Edward Moya称，“尽管今早股市试探性反弹，但我们看到金价攀升，因机构交易商仍有稳定的避险需求。”
美国十几个州最近新冠病例激增在一定程度上反映了检测力度加大，但其中许多州的住院人数也在上升。美国主要股指有所反弹，周四暴跌，因美联储有关经济复苏之路将漫长的预期让投资者对经济快速反弹的押注蒙阴。
美联储在半年度报告中指出，新冠疫情和经济前景存在不确定性，短期来看，疫情相关风险及美国和全球经济面临的风险仍然很高，各类数据表明小企业在疫情危机中的健康状况令人警惕。
