美聯儲褐皮書報告稱，新冠疫情在最近幾周嚴重損害了美國經濟，造成“嚴重”的失業和企業倒閉情況。所有區域經濟活動均出現下降，且大多數區域急劇下降，反映出新冠疫情造成的破壞。調查顯示，在實施保持社交距離措施和企業關門情況下，所有區域就業繼續下降，大多數地區下降情況嚴重；儘管許多連絡人表示希望整體活動將隨企業恢復經營而回升，但前景仍存在高度不確定，大多數連絡人對潛在復蘇速度感到悲觀。
今年以來，金價已經上漲了12%以上，分析師說，在低利率和全球政治經濟不確定性的支撐下，黃金的總體走勢正面。
在實際利率較低的環境下，黃金被有效地用來對沖風險，因為持有黃金的機會成本很低，預計這種有利環境將持續下去。該行預測，第四季度金價平均將達到每盎司1800美元。
美國銀行的一份研究報告稱，經濟復蘇的前景需要一段時間，美聯儲官員保持寬鬆政策的可能性也很大，黃金仍處於看漲趨勢。上周金價波動不大，但美國銀行的分析師重申了他們的觀點——即黃金仍處於看漲趨勢。他們表示:“美聯儲印鈔可能導致未來通脹，這應會支撐金價。”
