1月21日，由于中国新型冠状病毒肺炎感染人数增加，经济环境在春节假日期间受到一定一直，同时IMF对全球经济增长预期有所下调，但中国经济前景受到全球市场的广泛看好，金价有所回落。
目前，世卫组织(WHO)尚不建议采取任何旅行或贸易限制措施。但世卫组织(WHO)将在周三(1月22日)召集一个紧急专家委员会会议，研判此次疫情是否构成国际卫生紧急状况，以及应该采取什么措施。
中国外交部发言人耿爽在周二的发布会上透露，北京时间周三(1月22号)晚上，中方将应世卫组织邀请，与其他受疫情影响的国家一道，参加《国际卫生条例》突发事件委员会会议。与会各国、世卫组织以及有关专家将在会上分享疫情信息，并对疫情进行科学研判。
国际货币基金组织(IMF)周一下修2020年全球经济增长预估。IMF预计，2020年全球经济增长率为3.3%，2019年则是创下10年前金融危机以来的最小增幅2.9%。2019及2020年的估计值都较10月时的预估下修0.1个百分点。
德国央行表示，由于出口和资本投资受到影响，德国的制造业“在广泛领域出现大幅下滑”。制造业是德国确保经济繁荣的支柱产业，但承受着美国总统特朗普发起的贸易冲突困扰。
IMF说：“这些初步的企稳迹象可能会持续下去，最终会强化仍具弹性的消费者支出和已有改善的企业支出之间的连接。”IMF曾指出，围绕关税的不确定性以及其对企业投资的负面影响是限制增长的最大因素。
出席同场发布会的商务部综合司司长储士家则表示，中美第一阶段协议符合WTO规则和市场原则，也符合包括中美在内的全球生产者消费者和投资者的利益；下一步中美双方将共同努力，落实好第一阶段协议，促进中美经贸关系更好的发展，为世界经济发展贡献正能量。
2019年中国外商直接投资规模再创历史新高，稳居发展中国家首位、全球第二位。因贸易冲突令外界原本担心的大规模产业转移、利润下降并未出现。中国经济增长前景得到国际组织认可，缓解了市场紧绷的避险神经，金价盘中未能继续走高。
