中国数据带来利好消息，美元表现保守

7月15日，中国6月经济数据远超预期，缓解了市场对经济放缓的忧虑，对黄金价格有所压制。但受到美联储本月降息预期的影响，美元指数变现仍有一定的保守，让金价的跌幅无法进一步扩大。同时特朗普扬言美元过于强势。
尽管中国二季度经济增速一如预期降至6.2%，但中国6月工业和消费表现远超预期。中国6月规模以上工业增加值同比增长6.3%，远高于市场预估的5.2%；中国6月社会消费品零售总额同比增长9.8%，远超市场预期值8.5%。
中国国家统计局新闻发言人毛盛勇周一称，上半年中国经济实现6.3%的增速应该说还是不错的，是一个比较平稳的、不低的、含金量比较高的、来之不易的、有后劲支撑的速度。
分析师表示：“中国经济数据优于预期，显示全球放缓没有预期那么严重，淡化相关疑虑，因此导致黄金出现一些获利了结。”
美元指数仍受制于美联储主席鲍威尔和芝加哥联储主席埃文斯上周暗示——美联储有必要降息以提振通胀——所带来的压力。
IMF和世界银行负责人与欧洲央行官员将在巴黎共同纪念布雷顿森林体系。但在布雷顿森林协定签署75年之际，无论是在汇率还是贸易问题方面，国际合作的精神都在消退。贸易保护主义在升温，美国总统特朗普主张民族主义和单边主义，称全球其他国家都在通过竞争性货币贬值窃取美国利益。
就在中美贸易谈判恢复，世界两大经济体达成协议的可能性重新增大，让人觉得全球贸易前景或许出现一丝希望之际，关税争端的战火烧到了欧洲。法国计划对谷歌等科技企业征税引发美国怒火、特朗普威胁对欧洲汽车征税。
特朗普一再暗示，美元相比竞争对手的货币过于强势，但又不太可能动摇美联储的决策独立性，因此人们愈发认为，特朗普团队可能出台打击美元的具体措施，从而对美国现行政策作出剧烈且危险的突破。
美国政府有以下方式来削弱美元：明确放弃二十多年来实施的强势美元政策(1995年时任美国总统克林顿提出)，或者特朗普命令财政部抛售美元。
近几个月来，美国总统特朗普多次抨击美联储，要求其快速大幅降息，以便刺激美国经济增长。但国际货币基金组织(IMF)为美联储现行做法辩护。
