美国经济世界范围内一枝独秀
美联储货币政策委员会委员威廉姆斯对媒体表示，他认为美国经济表现非常好，全球经济动荡正在阻止美国这一世界最大经济体利率回归正常化。
周一旧金山联储主席威廉姆斯向媒体表示，美国经济表现非常好，特别是稳定的通货膨胀和强劲的就业增长。
他表示，“真正的问题是全球金融和经济的发展，世界各地都充满了不确定性，并且这些不确定性将如何影响美元和美国经济也无从知晓”。
威廉斯是美国联邦公开市场委员会（FOMC）的成员，但不投票成员之一。
他重申，美联储的货币政策仍然是依靠数据的，特别是通货膨胀这一数据，是美联储最为关心的。
“我们已经三年半左右未达到2%的通胀目标了，全球的通货紧缩是拖累美国通货膨胀的因素，在我看来还没有达到预期目标，因为目前劳动力市场在持续不断的改善，我对通胀数据的未来非常乐观，尽管通胀回到2%存在着很强的阻力，”他指出，这些阻力包括美元的强势，大宗商品价格的持续低迷。
“我们国内有自己的经济目标，但是话说回来了，美国身处全球经济之中，所以巴西或中国发生的事件对美国的通货膨胀和就业的目标会产生巨大影响。”
Williams指出，与欧洲和日本不同，缓慢通货膨胀不会将美国引入负利率政策(NIRP)，美国有其他政策工具，包括量化宽松政策和前瞻性指导。
“我们处于非常不同的情形，在接下来的几年里美联储会提高利率，美国比欧洲或日本的经济更强大，经济地位也更高，我认为美联储不会采取负利率。”
目前全球市场都试图从美联储官员的讲话中寻找在4月政策会议上美联储是否将加息的线索。
