全美房地产经纪人协会（NAR）周一公布的数据显示，继7月成屋销售总数创下2007年2月以来新高之后，美国8月成屋销售总数年化531万户，环比下跌4.8%，预期为环比下跌1.6%。美国8月成屋销售总数年化环比-4.8%，预期-1.6%，前值由2%修正为1.8%。
NAR首席经济学家Lawrence Yun表示，8月成屋销售环比下降，可能由于房价上涨导致潜在买家减少。分地区来看，美国南部和西部的成屋销售下降幅度最大，而近期以来，这些地区房价上涨也最快。美国西部房价较去年同期上涨了7.1%。
路透点评美国8月成屋销售总数称，8月份成屋销售下滑幅度大于预期，对美国近期稍有好转的房地产市场而言是一个值得警惕的信号；美国全国地产经纪商协会首席经济学家Lawrence Yun表示下滑可能是由于房价上涨令潜在购房者望而却步，房价增长最快的美国南部及西部地区成屋销售降幅也是最大。
