旧金山联储主席威廉姆斯周三(7月8日)指出，美联储仍有可能年内加息，而他个人期望年内加息两次。
“我仍相信，今年将会加息，我仍认为等太久再加息会有风险，”威廉姆斯重申了其6月会议之后传达的观点。
他稍后指出，上次会议以来发布的经济数据并未改变其加息观点。他还指出，截至9月，应该会有足够的数据供美联储来做出判断。
威廉姆斯指出，除了会获得新的美国经济增长、通胀以及就业市场数据以外，“希腊和欧元区形势会逐渐明朗”。数据将平息美联储对一季度经济放缓的担忧。
6月会议纪要显示，决策者们期望在首次加息前看到更多经济好转的数据，并对国外市场的动荡表示担忧。
威廉姆斯一贯表示，相信第一季度的小幅萎缩之下经济可能实际增长了1.5%左右。
威廉姆斯指出，即使低通胀仍然堪忧，但劳动力市场疲弱态势好转，明年失业率料低于5%以及未来几个季度GDP预期增长2.75%都预示着美国经济发展势头良好。
威廉姆斯称：“我认为到明年年底所有因素都将到位，届时我们将达到我们的目标。”
不过，他说，“在收集更多的证据表明通胀朝预期发展之前，我对下一步的行动仍持谨慎态度。”
威廉姆斯淡化了希腊债务危机对美国经济的风险。欧元区领导人要求希腊在周末之前提交新的提议以释放新一轮救助基金，扶助希腊经济正常运转。
威廉姆斯还指出，欧洲央行“显然已经发出了强有力的信号，如希腊退欧，他们将采取一切可采取的措施”。
威廉姆斯还表示，5月的中国之旅令其确信中国将采取措施维持经济发展速度。他还指出，中国股市的下跌对美国经济不会构成“主要的”担忧。
