美国劳工部周五(5月8日)公布的数据显示，美国4月季调后非农就业人口增幅反弹，表明雇主4月份恢复了强有力的招聘步伐；失业率进一步降至近七年来最低水平，这将推动美国经济走出严冬，从而暗示美联储(FED)仍可能于今年启动加息周期。
具体数据显示，美国4月季调后非农就业人口增加22.3万，服务业部门就业增加抵消了矿业部门就业的疲软；市场此前预期为增加22.4万；3月非农就业人口增幅由12.6万修正为8.5万，创2012年6月以来最低水平；2月非农就业人口增幅由26.4万修正为26.6万。
从历史标准来看，拥有工作或者正在求职的人数仍不算多。劳动参与率从前月的62.7%升至62.8%，虽然有所改善，但仍接近上世纪70年代末以来的最低水平。鉴于美国经济增长受到强势美元和能源部门削减开支影响，美联储很可能至少会在几个月之后才启动紧缩政策周期。美联储自2008年12月以来就一直维持着近零的纪录低利率。
路透社在评论今日数据时表示，美国4月就业增长维持在20万以上，而失业率也降至近七年低点，或将令美联储重拾对经济增长信心并推进年内加息进程。其并指出，平均时薪也录得稳定增长，这个数据更反映出美国第二季度经济增长的潜在趋势已从第一季度的疲弱中有所恢复。
