叙利亚当地时间23日凌晨，美军对叙利亚境内多个“伊斯兰国(IS)”目标发动空袭，并称行动得到多个海湾阿拉伯国家支持但未寻求叙利亚巴沙尔政府许可。
遭受开战后最大规模空袭的IS誓言“报复”，并指责“伪信者的后代”纵容了空袭。
“我可以証实，美国以及伙伴国军事力量正在使用战斗机、轰炸机和‘战斧’式对地导弹等武器，对在叙利亚境内伊斯兰国恐怖分子展开军事行动。”华盛顿时间22日，五角大楼发言人卡比此言一出，全美国的时政新闻记者一下子拥有了“重大新闻”。同一条信息成了CNN网站置顶的“突发事件”以及多家报章23日头版头条——“美国及其阿拉伯盟友空袭叙境内恐怖分子”。
周二金价冲高回落，一度触及1233美元/盎司的一周最高水平，但此后回落至1220上方。
德国商业银行认为，黄金的买盘还是要看地缘政治问题，改行提到了美军对叙利亚境内ISIS武装极端分子的空袭。“在和一些阿拉伯国家的联合下，美军对叙利亚境内的恐怖分子进行了空袭。这很显然会促进黄金的避险需求。此前，就在周一，受强劲美元影响，金价跌到了1208美元/盎司的水平，这是1月以来的最低水平。”
