黄金成本上涨利好长期金价

自从去年金价低迷以来，黄金生产行业的主旋律就成为了缩减成本，但对于生产黄金来说，对能源的消耗缺是难以压缩的。在过去10年中，全球最大的一些黄金生产商们每生产1盎司黄金，所消耗掉的能源近乎翻番，而其花费的涨幅则更大。
全球5大黄金生产商的燃油消耗有大幅增加，一方面是因为矿石等级在下降，需要处理更多的矿石才能生产等量的黄金，另一方面，大型卡车运送这些矿石也同样要消耗燃油。并且矿区的距离也变得更远，运输被拉长，消耗更大。2005年，每生产1盎司黄金所消耗的燃油为12.7加仑，而到了2013年，这一数字变为25.8加仑。
巴里克和纽蒙特公司每生产1盎司黄金所消耗的燃油在2013年有所增加，但安格鲁黄金和黄金公司的则有所减少。不过这些矿企总共的消耗则从2012年的5亿8300万加仑增加到了2013年5亿9100万加仑。每盎司黄金消耗加仑数之所以没有改变是因为2013年多生产了约30万盎司黄金。
在2005年，黄金生产商每生产1盎司黄金要花费价值30.48美元的燃油，2008年增加到69.92美元，当时原油价格大涨到145美元，此后因油价下跌燃油成本也有所下降。2010年1盎司黄金消耗价值55.91美元的燃油，2012年则涨到102.43美元。这也就证明，如果黄金的成本继续上涨，贵金属投资的成本大了，黄金的价格自然也会上涨。
著名投行美银美林周一也在报告中将2014年黄金均价预估上修至1308美元/盎司，因今年为止金价整体表现稳定，意味着“最糟糕的时刻(指去年黄金市场遭遇大规模抛售)”已经我们远去。
美银美林认为，尽管西方市场对黄金的投资兴趣依然不佳，但受到新兴市场买家的提振，金价将逐步企稳。换句话说，由于投资者的黄金抛售量减少，一些国家如中国及印度有足够的胃口吸收所有矿业及碎料的黄金供应。强调随着新兴市场国家越来越富裕，中期来看这些国家的实物金需求也将增长，意味着黄金市场已脱离最糟糕的时刻。
