黄金收益媲美货币

世界黄金协会(WGC)称，黄金不仅是能为投资组合带来多样性的资产，很多黄金的投资要比很多投资者们所意识到的有更高的流动性。
投资研究主管 Artigas说：“投资者们已经寻找了很长一段时间的替代资产了。”
股票、债券和资本市场之外替代品的兴趣在过去10年显著增加，投资者们将钱投入私募股权、对冲基金、房产和商品，希望能多样化投资并且增加风险调整回报。然而，报告表明，全部153万亿的金融资本中，仅有5%目前在替代资本中，不到1%在黄金中。“黄金带来了一些新的动向，对整个大局是好的，尤其在有系统性风险出现的时候，” Artigas说，“这是一个非常多样化的资产，是和股市相关性最小的资产，无论是好的时候还是不好的时候，并且非常流动。”
投资者们可以非常快的在黄金市场中进行流动。比如通过黄金ETF，黄金ETF每天都交易量可达10亿美元，有时候甚至能超过20亿。
“我们估计在2013年，黄金合约交易在每天600亿美元到1600亿美元之间，”Artigas说，“此外，2011年当流动性非常高的时候，LBMA数据显示，日交易量超过2400亿美元，也就是说，场外市场中，黄金的流动性媲美主要的货币并且超过所有美国股票总和。”
WGC报告称，黄金市场的日流动量和全球很多货币和股票媲美。此外，报告还称黄金相较别的商品，更像货币。在风险调整基础上来看，替代投资的表现超过了股市，而黄金自1990年来，平均表现也超过了股票和商品，尤其在2000年后。
“黄金需求推动了商业圈的每一环，黄金独特的供需关系暴涨了其对投资者们来说的多样化的角色。”黄金需求包括金饰、投资、技术和央行等，WGC认为：“经济增长推动金饰需求和技术需求，但衰退投资者们会买黄金保值，这创造的平衡，也是黄金和别的资产间缺乏相关性的表现。”
此外，黄金需求覆盖全球，而大部分大宗商品需求则来自发达国家。“东西方之间的平衡使得在某些类别和地区的需求表现不佳时，黄金的不同需求仍然能旺盛。”
比起商品，黄金更像货币。它是美元和欧元后的第三大储备货币，占全球储备13%。所有被开采出的黄金都还在，并没有像其它商品那样被消耗掉。这意味着回收重利用，可避免供应短缺。
