巴克莱计划退出大宗商品交易

全球最大的大宗商品交易商之一巴克莱(Barclays)正计划退出相当大部分的金属、农产品和能源业务。据悉该行将于本周宣布此举。
这一重组计划出炉之际，大宗商品交易遭受营收急剧下滑，同时招致监管机构的更大关注，这一局面已导致数家大银行退出该领域。
巴克莱首席执行官安东尼-詹金斯正准备在5月8日向投资者作最新战略通报，预计他将削减巴克莱对那些回报未能超出资本成本的领域的敞口，以裁减数千岗位。这些领域的业务很可能被转移到一家内部的“坏账银行”，然后要么出售要么停业。
这波退出举动受到几个因素的推动，包括监管趋紧、新的资本约束，以及石油和其它大宗商品价格稳定所导致的利润率降低。据咨询机构Coalition估计，大宗商品领域前10大银行在该领域的营收已从2008年的141亿美元下降到去年的45亿美元。
