工会表示震惊：英美铂金裁员超出预期

英美铂金去年产量为237.9万盎司，今年的生产目标为220-240万盎司。2012年该公司营运亏损7.15亿美元，主要因为南非的严重罢工导致该公司生产作业的中断，并因此损失了305,600盎司的铂金产量。
彭博社报导，世界最大铂金生产商英美铂金（Anglo American Platinum Ltd.）8月19日表示，该公司南非矿场的6,000人裁员计划外，可能还会有900名左右的总部白领员工也将受到影响，实际受影响的人数还须视自愿退休、提前退休，以及接受调职的人数来决定。国家矿工联盟（National Union of Mineworkers）发言人Lesiba Seshoka称对该公司的宣布表示震惊，称此前工会与公司所达成的协议是以优退且非强迫的方式裁减3,000名员工。
2011年，英美铂金获利超过10亿美元。该公司经过评估之后，决定闲置南非鲁斯登堡（Rustenburg）4处铂金矿坑，相当于每年40万盎司的产能，或约全球产量的7%。英美铂金的矿产铂金产量占全球四成比重，南非铂金矿产量则占全球七成以上比重。
金矿商也同样面临重大的成本压力。《国际财经时报》（International Business Times）8月19日报导，南非金田公司（Gold Fields Limited）执行长贺兰德（Nick Holland）表示，目前金矿伤的黄金总生产成本平均约在每盎司1,500美元左右，以当前的金价来看，金矿商将普遍遭遇亏损。巴克莱银行（Barclays PLC）8月19日报告则指出，过去六个月黄金市场的供给过剩，主要是受到北美市场的黄金投资需求下降的影响。
