8月份，现货黄金有希望被终结连涨势头，由于疫情对经济造成了巨大的负面冲击，美国政府的经济刺激方案难以实施，美联储也变更了政策框架，加上美国大选的不确定性都会美元造成巨大压力，黄金依旧有诸多因素支撑多头。
尽管美国7月份新增非农就业人数高于预期，失业率连续三个月走低，美国二季度GDP年化季率小幅上修至-31.7%，但美国至今未能有效控制疫情，带病复苏的经济正面临着巨大的不确定性。
许多黄金多头在俄罗斯冠状病毒疫苗获得批准后选择了获利离场。但是分析人士指出，这仅仅是给了市场一个抛售黄金的理由，缓解过于拥挤的仓位。
美国两党在刺激方案谈判上陷入僵局，这使得相当一部分依靠美国政府救助的失业人口陷入了困境，很多企业可能因为资金枯竭被迫裁员。如果僵局持续可能会进一步打击经济前景，并加剧美联储的政策压力。
7月零售销售数据增幅不及预期，因相当一部分申领失业金的人在救助到期之前缩减了开支并进行了储蓄。经济学家认为，政府支出的大幅下降将危及美国国内生产总值GDP从上季度历史性的崩溃中复苏。
距离美国大选投票只剩下两个多月的时间，美国民主党提名拜登为总统候选人，共和党确认特朗普为总统候选人。目前多个民调显示，拜登的支持率高于特朗普，市场担忧美国政策的延续性可能受到影响，再加上拜登可能会增加对富人的征税，推升了一下担忧情绪。
美联储7月会议纪要显示，决策者普遍认为，2020年下半年的复苏力度恐怕不再那么强劲。关于新冠肺炎流行病疫情的健康危机将严重地冲击到美国经济活动。美联储官员们认为存在若干风险，其中一个就是特朗普政府无效的财政支持。
