2月5日，现货黄金创下近日最新低位，原因在于亚欧股市的坚挺以及市场预计公共卫生事件将得到遏制，但市场的整体信心仍保持谨慎，美国企业的投资信心比较脆弱，美国总统特朗普试图在贸易领域开倒车。
股市和风险资产上涨，因为事态恶化趋势有望得到遏制。中国央行向金融体系注资数万亿元人民币，投资者近期涌向安全资产的趋势得到部分扭转，黄金盘中创下1月21日以来新低1547.57美元/盎司。
美国经济扩张已经创纪录地延续到了第11个年头，对于这一点，美国总统特朗普在周二向国会发表的国情咨文中也是大书特书，讨论了他取得的一些无可争议的积极成果。
特朗普在讲话中花费许多篇幅强调美国经济的强劲，以及他为此而取得的成就，比如美中第一阶段贸易协议和美墨加协定(USMCA)，失业率处于50年来的最低水平，较低技能工作的薪资正在上涨。
美国12月工厂新订单创下近一年半以来最大增幅，受国防飞机需求强劲提振，但企业设备支出持续疲弱，显示制造业大幅反弹的空间有限。
企业投资的低迷人气可能会因波音上月暂停其陷入困境的737 MAX客机的生产而加剧。波音737 MAX客机发生两起空难后于去年3月停飞。
2019年全年，工厂订单下降0.6%。持续18个月的中美贸易对峙削弱企业信心，降低资本支出。企业投资在第四季录得连续第三个季度萎缩，这是2009年以来持续时间最长的一次萎缩。
世界贸易组织(WTO)总干事阿泽维多(Roberto Azevedo)周二表示，贸易并非世界各地决定汇率的主要因素，WTO缺乏解决此一问题的专业能力。
美国政府挑起的贸易冲突带来了不确定性，但并未明显缩小美国贸易逆差。特朗普企图通过打汇率牌来消除贸易逆差，只会竹篮打水一场空，并导致全球各地经济放缓，放大业已存在的恐慌情绪，受益的只会是黄金等避险资产。
