2月6日，美元指数震荡上涨，因特朗普的国情咨文中的基建内容支撑了美元上涨，但因德国经济数据不佳，欧洲政局不稳，欧元面临危机，提振美元。现货黄金小幅度下挫。
美国总统特朗普5日晚间在国会发表国情咨文演讲，力推加强边境管控、限制非法移民入境等政策。在经济方面，特朗普表示迫切希望与国会共同努力通过基础设施投资法案，为新的、重要的基础设施建设进行投资，包括对未来前沿产业的投资。
特朗普还表示，希望国会能够批准新的“美国—墨西哥—加拿大协定”以取代北美自由贸易协定，称这将带来制造业就业岗位的回归，推动美国农业发展，保护知识产权，并确保更多汽车在美国制造。特朗普还呼吁国会立法就治疗艾滋病和儿童癌症加强研究、限制药品价格、设立带薪产假制度等。
特朗普结束了上任以来第二次国情咨文演讲。据CBS发布的民调显示，76%的受访者赞同特朗普这次国情咨文演讲，24%不支持。同时，72%受访者赞成特朗普演讲中关于移民的内容，71%认为美国南部边境存在危机，78%的受访者认为第二次特金会是个好主意。
去年中国的黄金需求增长了5.7%，达到1151吨。 然而，增长率明显低于一年前，虽然需求增加，但供应减少了近6%。多年来，中国一直在利用进口来填补这一空白。去年，香港和瑞士是主要供应商。
英国国家经济社会研究院（NIESR）表示，即便达成脱欧协议，未来几年英国经济增长仍将低迷。NIESR在周三的报告中将2019年英国GDP增速自1.9%下调至1.5%，并表示2020年与2021年英国经济产出只会略微回升至1.7%。NIESR表示，英国脱欧更加混乱的状况可能会导致投资下滑，推动增长率进一步下降。
