周四(3月1日)，现货黄金价格连续第三日下跌，受累于美元走强，投资者等待日内稍晚美联储主席鲍威尔在参议院金融委员会的听证会。OANDA的亚太地区交易主管指出，鲍威尔可能会淡化其鹰派言论，但如果维持不变，将打压金价。
一位驻香港的交易员说：“美元走坚继续拖累金价，但该金属因股市走软获得一定支撑。”
美元受到鲍威尔对美国经济的鹰派立场支撑。这一立场令市场预计，美联储今年将升息四次，而非三次。市场正热切等待鲍威尔的第二个听证会。
分析师表示，美联储新主席鲍威尔的国会证词显示，他支持继续逐步加息。而加息对黄金而言是双重的麻烦，因为这不仅会使以美元计算使黄金更为昂贵，还会削弱黄金这类无息资产的吸引力。
分析师说：“他可能会淡化其鹰派言论，但如果维持不变，我们很可能会看到市场对美国利率的预估上调，美元将小幅走坚，这可能会引发金价再度下跌。”
美国第四季经济环比增长年率初估值被小幅下修，因消费者支出以三年来最强劲速度增长，导致库存减少，在企业无法生产足够的商品和服务 的情况下，进口急增。
分析师在报告中指出：“金市短线可能面临美元续强，债券收益率上扬及股市恢复疲势等局面，这种景况可能压低金价。”
