英国半世纪来首次罢工
英国一工会组织7月3日确认，英国央行雇员已经做出决定，将举行逾50年来首次罢工，抗议薪资水平几乎长期停滞不前。罢工将从7月31日开始，总共为期4天，英银雇员要求至少涨薪1%。。他们将给政府施加压力，要求结束针对公务员的薪资紧缩政策。
而罢工时间的选择上颇让外界关注，因为8月3日将恰逢英国央行的下一次货币政策会议。
英国央行雇员忍无可忍，将现半个多世纪来首次罢工
英国首相特蕾莎·梅面临着来自各党派议员的压力与日俱增，他们普遍要求政府结束目前公共部门薪资低水平的增幅。2013年至今，英国政府执行严格的开支紧缩政策，公务员薪资增速迟缓，年均增幅不足1%。
更具讽刺意义的是，国民薪资水平表现是英国央行货币决策层最为看重的宏观指标之一，而自己的员工却要为争取涨薪而抗议。
目前，英国央行雇员规模达到近3600人，其中约2%加入了Unite工会。
英国央行发表声明称：“央行已经制定了临时应对方案，一旦罢工开始，所有各级部门都将保持有效运行。我们还将持续与Unite展开沟通，希望能够取得积极进展。”
Unite称，英银雇员年薪不到20000英镑(约合25700美元)，因此涨薪1%的诉求将让他们摆脱生活上的财政困境。
Unite还呼吁英国央行行长卡尼对此进行干预，并威胁如果争端得不到解决，罢工行动可能升级。
因在过去10年中的大部分时间里，英国通胀增速都要快于薪资增速，导致英国劳工阶层的消费能力受到长期压制。
