美联储：美国经济不断增速或会滑铁卢
美联储官员威廉姆斯发出警告，美联储和其他发达经济体的央行将发现，尽管短期内经济面的消息令人振奋，但长期而言经济会陷入低速增长模式，除非财政当局采取果断行动扭转局面。
此番警告对美元影响并不大，但欧洲央行行长德拉基在讲话中力挺欧银政策，提振欧元短线飙升逾50点，拖累了美指表现。
然而美联储本月稍早加息，而且计划继续逐渐加息，以避免美国经济过热，威廉姆斯的言论可能让人颇感意外，加息往往暗示对经济前景持乐观看法。
威廉姆斯表示，尽管短期内经济面的消息令人振奋，但更长期而言注定会让人失望。
发达经济体长期经济增速或仅为金融危机前一半
威廉姆斯在为悉尼麦考瑞大学准备的演讲稿中称，人口老龄化和生产率放缓令全球经济增长减速，美国、欧元区、英国和加拿大的长期年增长趋势水准目前估计仅在1.5%。这个水平只有金融危机前正常增长水平的约一半。
央行将更加束手束脚
经济增长下滑，降低了投资需求，从而推低利率，使得央行通过降息来抵消经济冲击的空间变小。在增长如此不振的情况下，货币政策制定者将更加难以管理通胀和保持充分就业。
威廉姆斯认为，除非财政政策制定者在劳动力缓慢增加的情况下，依然投资教育、就业培训、基建和研发来提高经济产出，否则货币政策将面临严峻挑战，难以实现物价稳定、稳定的通胀预期和强劲的宏观经济表现。
