中东地区的两大国紧张对峙点燃了全球市场动荡的导火索，避险情绪急速飙升，一股“抛售潮”在新年伊始便席卷全球股市，中国股市就遭遇了“史上最惨开局”。
周一上证指数暴跌，连续两次触及“熔断机制”，最终提前收跌6.85%，千股跌停的景象再度重现。
沪深两市低开低走，中小创业板股票全线大跌，至午盘后13时13分，沪指扩大跌幅至5%，首次触发熔断新规。在暂停交易15分钟后，沪指继续向下，13时34分，在跌幅达7%再度触发熔断提前收盘。
市场分析人士指出，解禁潮冲击市场信心、人民币汇率继续贬值和中东局势紧张升级等利空因素合力“导演了这场大戏”。
人民币贬值势头对于A股构成了一定的压力。日内，离岸人民币兑美元暴跌近500点，最低触及6.6196，刷新近五年低位。
暴跌如同一种“病毒”弥漫在全球股市之中。日经指数收盘重挫3.06%，韩国股市大跌2.17%。欧洲各主要股指盘初也全线大跌，德国DAX股指重挫3.55%，法国CAC 40指数下跌2.53%，英国富时100指数下跌1.87%。
