美联储副主席费希尔周四(11月19日)表示，一些主要央行将在近期加息，外国央行官员曾告诉美联储“采取行动”。不过美联储尚未就加息时间作出最后的决定。美联储已尽一切努力以避免让市场感到意外，且在加息之前，将继续评估数据。
在谈到亚洲经济时，费希尔表示，虽然新兴亚洲经济体增长放缓可能对全球经济有巨大影响。但是中国经济增速可能在一段时间超过世界其他地方的增速。而印度有潜力刺激亚洲经济增长，但是需要放宽对外资的限制。同时，费希尔预计亚洲的成长速度未来数年仍将远快于全球经济。
费希尔指出，中国需求增长放缓是导致商品价格下跌的一个重要因素，因此大宗商品价格可能在一段时间内保持低位。不过中国薪资增长能在未来支撑原油市场，而铜和钢的价格可能持续低迷。
费希尔认为增长放缓是新兴亚洲经济体的自然转型过程，也是卓越经济成功的表现，贸易增长不太可能重返近几十年来的速度。中国在全球经济中的重要性可能会增加。而印度则必需克服巨大的挑战才能发挥充分潜力。
最后，费希尔称，人民币可能被纳入SDR货币篮子，不过很难评估亚投行、TPP及人民币可能被纳入IMF储备货币篮子的重要性。
