会议记录表明，在今夏和初秋美国市场动荡和中国股市大跌令美联储感到不安后，“大部分”决策者感到升息的条件“可能会在下次会议前得到满足”。美联储意外决定在会后声明中直接提及可能在12月升息，只有几位委员对此表示担忧，认为这可能为升息预期提供了太强烈的暗示。
美元指数触及99.853的七个月新高，最新持平于99.65。美元兑日元小涨，报123.56日元，在美联储会议记录发表后日元一度触及三个月高位。
美元兑瑞郎升至1.0219瑞郎的10个月高位，最新报1.0196瑞郎，涨0.6%。
瑞郎的下跌也受累于瑞士央行稍早的评论，该行在一份声明中称，瑞郎仍被高估，现有政策旨在削弱瑞郎汇价。
欧元兑美元持平于1.0644美元。
