周四（11月12日）希腊再次爆发全面罢工，抗议总理齐普拉斯采取新一轮财政紧缩政策。大约2.5万名希腊民众当天走上街头，在首都雅典市中心发起了三轮游行，并与警察发生轻微冲突。这将会影响希腊左翼政府的地位，此前左翼在9月刚刚赢得大选的胜利。
这次罢工是为了抗议希腊政府将进一步加强紧缩措施作为第三次救助计划的一部分，包括增税、削减养老金和工资等。按照希腊和国际债权人的协议，希腊将通过缩减开支和增税，从其它欧盟国家换取860亿欧元救助贷款。此前，希腊政府口头上表示希望结束激进的财政紧缩政策，但又不得不接受希腊债权人要求留在欧元区的需求。抗议者表示，他们感觉被政府愚弄了，因为政府并没有像大选时承诺的那样保留预算。
罢工将扰乱医院、公共交通、航空、税收办公室以及其他社会正常运转活动，而这也是左翼联盟重新执政以来所面临的第一个大型有组织抗议行动。这将会影响希腊左翼政府的地位，左翼在9月刚刚赢得大选的胜利。
罢工是由该国最大的两个工会组织，希腊全国劳工总会(GSEE) 和希腊全国公职协会(ADEDY)，他们分别代表了私人和公共部门的工作人员。GSEE说，这是抗议所有损害希腊人民生活水平的财政紧缩政策。
GSEE表示，大众参与罢工，是希腊政府对政府痴迷无出路的教条以及利用灾难性政策压榨员工的反抗，政府的这些政策将使这个国家的年轻人绝望。
罢工使得希腊全国的交通运输陷入瘫痪，铁路和海上交通中断，30多次国内航班取消，岛屿和大陆之间的联系中断。新闻记者同样停止日常工作，仅播报与罢工相关的消息。新闻网站停止更新。13日发行的报纸将不再印刷。
