周一纽约交易时段美元指数一度创下近半年来最大跌幅，大宗商品市场触及1999年来最低水准，拖累大宗商品货币扩大跌幅。除经济放缓影响需求的忧虑之外，有着超过20年经验的外汇交易商认为，中国对美元计价资产的抛售令大宗商品市场“雪上加霜”。
现在担任GPS Capital Markets业务发展主管的David Pierce周一(8月24日)表示，中国可能正在大量卖出大宗商品等以美元计价的资产。
彭博大宗商品指数周一下挫2.2%，创下1个半月来最大跌幅。铂金创下两年最大跌幅；黄金期货盘中起伏不定，最终收跌0.5%。纽约交易的西德州中质油期货跌5.5%至六年最低收盘水平；铜价和铝价跌至六年低点。
大宗商品的下跌拖累加元、澳元、纽元和挪威克朗等大宗商品出口国。纽元/美元在纽约交易早盘一度暴跌8.32%至0.6130，触及2009年以来最低位。
