据了解德国财长朔伊布勒观点的人士透露，朔伊布勒提到了一个可能性，即如果希腊与债权人的谈判失败，希腊可能需要一个与欧元平行的货币。
据两位与会人士透露，朔伊布勒在最近一次会议上提及了平行货币的概念，但没有表示支持。
其中一位知情人士表示，朔伊布勒还援引了黑山共和国的例子；黑山不是欧元联盟的成员国但却在使用欧元。
评论表明，与希腊的谈判自2月份以来拖拉成僵局，德国部分人士正在为最坏的情况做准备。虽然德国总理默克尔及财长都表示，目标是将希腊留在欧元区，但朔伊布勒也曾说过不排除希腊退出欧元区。
彼得森国际经济研究所驻华盛顿的高级研究员Jacob Funk Kirkegaard在接受电话采访时表示，德国已经准备好大力推行边缘政策，由朔伊布勒担当攻击手的角色。
其同时指出，“希腊的情况恶化传染给其它欧元区国家的风险非常低。”
德国总理默克尔周五表示，需要作出更多努力才能启动对希腊的援助基金，之前与希腊总理齐普拉斯在里加的欧盟峰会上的谈判未能带来突破迹象。
希腊总理齐普拉斯周六在雅典表示，希腊经济无法承受更多会导致衰退的措施，政府不会接受无法解决希腊问题的协议。
齐普拉斯还指出，希腊已经彰显出让步意愿，债权人应当释出同样善意；希腊政府认可国内社保体系需要改革，但不能通过削减养老金来实现。
