伊朗当局在核谈判问题上表态强硬，称必须解除所有加诸伊朗的经济制裁行径，德黑兰才会在未来可能达成的综合性核协议上签字。这样的表态无疑意味着，伊朗方面似乎并不急于扩大对外石油出口规模，进而缓解了一度甚嚣尘上的对于国际原油市场原本就供应过剩的担忧情绪。伊朗作为OPEC成员国周一，在今年4月2日曾与六大国就核问题达成初步的框架协议，这有望使得伊朗的原油出口更加自由。
美国原油期货周四（4月9日）上涨0.37美元，涨幅0.73%，收报50.79美元/桶。
部位于巴黎的国际能源署(IEA)2月10日曾称，伊朗从每日80万桶的产量恢复到360万桶的最大产能只需要三个月的时间。
沙特阿拉伯石油部长欧那密(Ali Al-Naimi)周二(4月7日)曾表示，目前沙特的原油日产量在1030万桶，为至少2002年来的最高水平太。
美国能源信息署(EIA)周三称，美国原油库存上周增加1095万桶，至4.824亿桶。这是自1982年8月以来能源部的统计机构所汇集的一周数据里最高的数字。美原油(WTI)合约交割地——俄克拉荷马州库存地区的库存上周增加了120万桶，到创纪录的6020万桶。
同时，EIA数据还显示，上周美国原油日产量增加1.8万桶，至940万桶/日。此前美国3月20日当周的原油日产量曾达到942万桶，为1983年以来最高水平。
由于原油提炼燃料产业利润上涨，沙特于4月5日宣布提高五月出货到亚洲的原油价格。此外，数据显示，上周闲置石油钻井机连续第17周增加，使工作钻井总数量下降到五年以来最低水平。油服贝克休斯（Baker Hughes Inc.）的数据显示，美国运营中石油钻井机数量下跌11口至共802口，跌幅为自去年12月以来最小。
沙特石油部长顾问Nasser Al-Dossary周三在利雅得的会议上表示，目前的油价会引发需求，市场会需要一些时间来获得再平衡。他强调，石油输出国组织(OPEC)的角色是保持市场的平衡，使油价不会过高。
沙特石油部长欧那密本周称，拥有供应全球40%原油的12位成员国所组成的OPEC，将不会不经过与其它各地生产商协调而减少输出。
