周二(3月24日)英镑/美元高位回落，日内公布的英国2月消费者物件指数(CPI)年率持平，2月通胀意外骤降，主要压力来自于食品、非酒精性饮料、家具以及电脑设备。
英国2月通胀意外骤降至零，创下1989年有记录以来的最低水平。今天的报告，再加上英国央行官员的言论，英国恐在未来一段时间内陷入低通胀的状态，升息的时间将再次延后。英国2月通胀数据远不及预期，促使英镑对美元走低，美元指数相对被推高，令金价再度承压。
央行决策者已经发表言论称，通胀的持续暴跌主要来自于临时性因素(尤其是油价的暴跌)所拖累，英国央行行长卡尼早前曾称，预计未来数月英国的通胀将跌至负值区间。物价的疲软，则意味着英国央行在升息方面几乎没有动力。
卡尼同时还指出，能源成本暴跌所带来的影响，在今年年底将会逐步消退，通胀在2016年将加速走高。但是该行首席经济学家霍尔丹则发出警告称，物价低增长的风险将持续，利率上升或者下降的几率大致相当。
澳新银行(ANZ)分析师日内表示，“英镑/美元受到三项关键因素的压制：政治不确定性、财政环境和英镑走强对贸易的不利影响。这三项因素令英国央行放缓了货币政策趋紧的周期。”
该行分析师并表示，“如果英镑维持强势的话，则将对该国的通胀数据和英国的国际竞争力构成进一步负面影响。这种负面影响最终将导致英国央行选择在更长时间内保持观望态度。因此，在目前的市况下，英镑/美元后市预计仍将进一步承压。”
