行内人士分析出黄金价格目前正处于或接近黄金企业无法盈利的水平上。
Warwick Valley金融咨询公司主席Ken Ford表示，大部分的黄金和白银采矿公司目前的盈利状况是非常微弱。裁员是各大公司首选的措施之一，很多公司都在避免将矿井维持在保养维护状态，因为保养维护也要花费数百万美元。
但是黄金的开采公司并没有太多的选择。
Handwerger表示，大型黄金开采商无法将黄金价格维持在1500美元/盎司的水平，只得任其下滑至1100美元/盎司之下。周一，黄金期货价格曾一度走高，但是最后仍交割于1096.40美元/盎司。
美国银行财富管理高级投资策略师Rob Haworth表示，采矿平均支出接近1000美元/盎司，但是随着价格下跌至关键位以下并且没有需求上升的任何趋势，产量未来势必将会下降。在这一切发生前，交易员们需要保持警惕。
