希腊的银行已经关闭，预计将保持关闭至7月5日。希腊将于7月5日进行公投，决定是否接受债权人的援助条款。
标普称：“我们认为，希腊就债权人援助计划举行公投的决定进一步表明齐普拉斯所带领的希腊政府将国内政策放在金融和经济稳定性、商业债务还款以及欧元区成员国身份之前。”
“在我们看来，希腊目前有50%的可能退出欧元区。此外，我们认为，如果希腊局势没有发生意料之外的有利变化，希腊将不可避免的在未来六个月内商业违约。”
标普指出希腊的前景为“负面”，这意味着希腊可能将在半年内被降级到SD（选择性违约）。
就在三个星期前，标普下调希腊评级从CCC+至CCC，并警告称该国展望为负面。
