因美国总统奥巴马寻求国会支持而推迟对叙利亚军事行动，以及黄金需求有所下滑的影响。
叙利亚常驻联合国代表贾法里已经以叙官方名义致函联合国秘书长潘基文及安理会轮值主席国代表，呼吁潘基文“阻止任何侵略叙利亚的行动”，并呼吁联合国推动政治途径解决叙利亚危机。
贾法里还在信中同时呼吁安理会能够“阻止国际法框架外荒唐的动武行为”。他指出，美国应扮演好其在叙利亚危机中的角色。
即应与俄罗斯合作推动叙利亚问题国际会议的召开，而不是进行战争威胁。
分析师指出一旦美国武力制裁叙利亚，就短线而言，有机会能将黄金价格一举推上1,500美元大关。
但短期来看，美国对叙利亚开战机会并不大。
