现货黄金市场2016年8月31日4点整收于每盎司1310.7美元，较前一交易日相比，下跌了12.1美元，跌幅0.91%。现货白银较前一交易日下跌1.33%，报18.60美元。
美国8月消费者信心大增：美国谘商会周二公布数据显示，美国8月消费者信心指数为101.1 ，预估为97.0，7月经修正后为96.7，前值为97.3。美国8月消费者信心指数好于预期，且录得去年9月以来最高水平，暗示美国家庭消费支出仍将作为关键因素，支撑美国经济增长，这为加息提供了依据，从而增大了黄金后市下行的风险。
费希尔力挺美国就业市场：美联储副主席费希尔，周二在接受彭博电视采访时表示，美国就业市场接近充分就业状态，美联储的加息步伐将取决于经济的表现，不可以简单地认为年内将加息一次。这使得升息预期继续发酵，加上靓丽的经济数据，助推美指一度突破96关口，从而对黄金构成强势打压，现货金价隔夜触及7周新低1309.1美元每盎司。
