英国8月通胀率降至零：英国国家统计局周二公布数据显示，英国8月通胀率回落至零水平，具体数据显示，英国8月CPI同比持平，符合预期，但不及前值上升0.1%。英国央行决策者估计，通胀率在未来几个月还将保持在零水准附近。英国通胀水平一直是英国升息的核心论点，然而本次的数据并没有带来好消息，这打压了英国升息的预期，促使英镑短线回落，从而通过汇率提振美元，间接为黄金提供支撑。
零售销售持续增长：美国周二公布的数据显示，美国8月零售销售增长0.2%；7月修正为增长0.7%，初值0.6%。美国零售销售持续增长，显示出消费者可能不太在意近期金融市场的大幅波动，这暗示出美国经济复苏仍然处于健康的轨道，这利好于美国通胀达到2%目标，从而促使美元短线走高，使黄金承压回落。
