特朗普政府要求美国国税局撤销哈佛大学免税地位
据知情人士透露，特朗普政府已要求美国国税局启动撤销哈佛大学免税地位的程序。财政部官员要求国税局代理首席法律顾问安德鲁·德梅洛推进一项计划，取消哈佛大学的关键地位，即捐赠者可以获得捐款的税收减免，并使哈佛大学不必为任何净收入纳税。哈佛大学作为501(c)(3)教育机构，免征联邦所得税。撤销免税地位通常要经过美国国税局的详细审计，而且这个过程可能会陷入法律挑战。最近，哈佛拒绝了行政部门提出的各种要求，包括要求该校与联邦政府分享所有招生数据。特朗普和国会中的共和党人一直在与哈佛大学斗争，指责哈佛在打击反犹主义方面做得不够，同时还向它施压，要求它终止多样性、公平和包容（DEI）项目。政府最近还宣布冻结了超过22.6亿美元的联邦基金，用于多年研究补助金和合同。
