7月9日，现货黄金出现大幅回落，一度失守千八关口，由于美国单日新增病例创下新纪录后，股市出现明显下跌，投资者出现获利了结，金价回吐，同时投资者入手美元以求避险，降低了对黄金作为替代资产的需求。
美元指数周四从近一个月低位反弹超50点，最高升至96.79；在佛罗里达报告新增冠状病毒死亡病例和新住院人数创新高之后，投资者将美元作为避风港。美联储官员周三对美国经济复苏的持久性提出了新的质疑，而新出炉的企业调查凸显出新冠病毒大流行肆虐带来的风险。
美国上周首次申请失业救济人数下降，但由于新冠病例持续增加，并且大公司准备实施裁员数以千计的新计划，失业人数将顽固的保持在高位。
近几个月来，世界各地的央行纷纷大幅降息，某些央行还出台了史上最大规模的刺激措施，以帮助缓解疫情对经济的打击。刺激措施往往会提振黄金，黄金被认为是对冲通胀和货币贬值的工具。
金价还将继续走高，看向1850美元/盎司，之后才会出现比较明显的投资者获利了结。目前没有什么能促使投资者抛售黄金的重要因素，人们仍然需要黄金来对冲通胀和各种不确定性。
只有金价大举下跌至1700美元/盎司下方才会让市场对眼下这个上行趋势有所怀疑。几十美元的回落是无法动摇对黄金看涨的预期的，只有非常大幅度的下跌才能把这几年筑底后的突破抹去。在目前这种环境下，投资组合中应当配置至少10%的黄金。
分析师称，“我将黄金的配置上调到了15%，金价还有很大的上行空间，即使有修正，也能涨到1850水平。不过投资者或许要注意美元的表现，在持续低迷后，美元指数已经有了触底的迹象。尽管看好黄金继续走高，但一旦美元突然出现回升，那么金价的第一反应仍可能是回落。”
