5月失業率也從4月創下二戰後最高的14.7%降至13.3%，令外界預期美國在因疫情引發一波裁員潮後開始回穩。分析師原本預期5月失業率會升至19.1%。
調查還顯示，消費者信心、製造業和服務業活動趨於平穩，儘管5月時還處於低點，這表明為對抗新冠疫情推出的社交疏離措施所引發的經濟低迷正在觸底。
非農就業數據還推升了美國公債收益率，10年期美債收益率上周五一度升至0.955%，上次漲至如此高位還是在3月中旬。投資人等候美聯儲會議結果。以觀察聯儲主席鮑威爾如何看待近來10年期美國公債收益率上漲及收益率曲線趨陡的問題。
五年期/30年期美債收益率曲線處於2017年結束以來最陡，過去一個月來上升約30個基點。幾乎無人預期美聯儲本月政策會議將有動作，但它可能會明顯暗示將增加購債或者未來祭出控制收益率的措施。
美聯儲可能會在9月採取行動限制收益率，不過該央行在未來一周舉行貨幣政策會議時，有關這項政策的各種問題可能會出現，“就是說，收益率可以略為走高，但不能大幅上漲——市場上的債太多了。”
美聯儲主席鮑威爾此前表示，美國經濟有可能在一年多的時間內都能感受到抗疫封鎖帶來的壓力，但美國各地放鬆封鎖措施以及數萬億美元的刺激計畫正在幫助穩定經濟。
新冠病疫情的死亡人數仍在攀升，且抗議種族不平等及警方過度執法的示威抗議如火如荼。目前美國在數周抗疫封鎖後重新開放，距離美國11月3日總統大選也只剩下五個月。
週一在白宮橢圓形辦公室展開了激烈爭論，特朗普提出的要求顯示其當時接近實現之前發出的可能在城市部署現役部隊的威脅，但五角大樓領導層對此表示反對。後來特朗普似乎對國民警衛隊部署情況感到滿意。
年前的減稅計畫是基於經濟高速增長令稅收增加的假設，而現在疫情導致經濟停擺，美國財政赤字不斷高企。稅收不足只能靠增發國債來維繫財政，美元後市下跌空間或有限，或限制金價走高。
