随着欧元和日元汇价下的金价创下新高，巨大的黄金市场在外汇市场上的影响力越来越大。一些市场分析师认为，金价兑两种主要货币的新高进一步表明，黄金作为一种避险资产的投资吸引力日益增强。
与欧洲和日本债券相比，黄金确实是一种有吸引力的资产。不过，他补充称，金价兑这两种货币创下的纪录高点，更多地与欧元和日元的结构性问题有关。
欧元兑美元自年初以来已大幅下跌，从1.125美元跌至1.085美元的最新低点。欧元兑美元还有更大的下跌空间。欧元兑美元汇率目前处于两年来的最低水平。与此同时，美元兑日元继续在区间顶部交投。美元今年的涨势令人印象深刻，金价上涨只是其它货币走软的结果。
以其它货币计价的金价屡创新高，反映出外汇市场日益疲软。他表示货币贬值通常是推动基准价值储存手段价格上涨的主要力量，但这与金价上涨关系不大，更可能反映的是纸币的贬值。
美元走低可能只是时间问题。尽管美元在2020年迄今表现出令人印象深刻的强势，但它并没有动摇黄金市场的乐观情绪。在美元走强的情况下，金价维持在1550美元左右的关键支撑位。
